Get Ready for Durban III

On September 22, one month from today, world bodies will gather at the UN General Assembly in New York on the 10th anniversary of the UN World Conference against Racism in Durban, South Africa.  That conference, whose final declaration called for the establishment of a "war-crimes" tribunal against Israel, instigated the tactic of exploiting international law to assault the Jewish state, with the goals of disrupting normal diplomatic relations and placing under legal sanction all its methods of combating terrorism.  "With its anti-Semitic undertones and displays of hatred for Israel and the Jewish world," commented Israel's foreign ministry, Durban "left us with scars that will not heal quickly."

That New York is about to witness the third gathering of this hate-fest—the second took place in 2009—shows that the attack on Israel under the banner of international law continues apace.  Nor does the conference have implications for Israel alone: every democratic government stands to be criminalized for its efforts to protect its citizens from terror attacks.  Here, two videos by the Israeli media agency Leadel illustrate the moral bankruptcy of the UN and the outright anti-Semitic impetus of Durbans I and II. (The footage includes some graphic images and vulgar language.)

The Dysfunction of the UN
Durban II featured states that, even while themselves signatories to human-rights treaties, are some of the worst abusers of human rights in the world. Why do they get a free pass from the UN?

Anti-Semitism in Disguise?
In a survey of European opinion, “we found a very strong correlation between classical anti-Semitism and Israel-bashing.”
